Digital Media in my daily life

Sarah Eckhardt

My day begins with checking my emails on Gmail. I have a personal and business email address. For team projects and plans of action I utilize Google Docs multiple times though out the day. I also use Microsoft for reporting. For meetings I use Google meets and Zoom. I also use Canva and Poster My Wall to create flyers that are posted on social media and on the website. To increase awareness about the nonprofit I work for I post daily on Facebook and weekly on Instagram. Our Website is on Shopify. Quarterly I create a newsletter on Constant Contact. This informational newsletter is emailed to the contacts I have accumulated in my six years at this position. All these tools are used to increase brand awareness.

I have had negative comments on Facebook. Sometimes comments will be made out of a lack of education. Those comments I will kindly respond to with the details they are missing. Rude comments I delete. I also have had some spam comments that I delete.

For my demographic Facebook is the best tool when I am educating about my job or spreading the word about a community event. When I am raising money or selling items I use our website or Instagram. I also have community partners that I cross promote with. Each of these tools meet the different needs I have.

In my work role I receive lots of emails from different companies. The ones I pay the most attention to are the emails that I have signed up for, like Travel OK, Keep Ok Beautiful and National Main Street. I use the Travel Ok site to promote my events and to plan my weekend trips. Before I open an email I double check that I recognize the sender.

I have noticed that digital media is every where. I find myself first using the web when I am researching a place to eat or travel to. After I make that search my Facebook feed will be filled with similar items to what I searched. The only paper advertising I tend to notice are the travel type. The beautiful pictures catch my eye. Before starting at SNHU I did not utilize YouTube often. Its a great digital media source that I have learned from. I am a visual learner, so seeing the steps helps me learn.
